Primary Healthcare Services Delivery

DHAF provides financial and technical support to organizations that are providing urgently-needed, primary medical care to Somalis who would not otherwise have access to healthcare.

Mobile Rural Health Clinics

DHAF funds mobile primary care clinics in rural communities throughout Somalia, which are executed by our partner, the Hagarla Institute. These clinics offer primary healthcare services, such as check-ups, blood tests, and prenatal care. They also operate minor surgeries and screen people for long-term illnesses, such as cancer, and make referrals for specialized care. These clinics have already inspired a local university and two other health clinics to start their own.

In 2023, DHAF helped to fund several mobile medical clinics in Ceelasha and Burco. Collectively, the clinics served on average over 70 patients per visit, providing much needed care and medications primarily to women and children. In 2024, DHAF was able to expand its support to fund these mobile clinics throughout the entire year.

Antenatal Care Unit & Breast Clinics

DHAF helped to fund free essential healthcare services for women in Somaliland. These funds assisted in the capacity to treat over 1,000 women.

Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, a student in Medical Laboratory Science, describes his participation in the Hagarla Institute's mobile clinics and the powerful impact the clinics have had on rural communities.
