At DHAF, our mission is to continue the work of Dr. Hawa Abdi by providing funding and capacity-building support to on-the-ground efforts to advance high-quality healthcare, education, and other services to those most in need in Somalia and the surrounding region.

Our vision is to support and develop healthy, socially empowered and environmentally responsible communities committed to upholding human rights and sustaining peace in Somalia and the surrounding region.

We work to accomplish our mission and vision by supporting grassroots healthcare and education solutions led by innovators in the Horn of Africa, for their region.

DHAF is the fiscal sponsor of the Hagarla Institute, which is making extraordinary strides for public health in Somalia and throughout the Horn of Africa through evidence-based research, practice-based skills training, education, and community health services to some of the world’s most marginalized and vulnerable women and children. Separately, DHAF also partners with and supports Hagarla on projects that align with DHAF’s mission.
